| Summary: | Resumo: O objetivo deste relatório é apresentar os resultados do sítio escola ocorrido no município de Itaparica, Recôncavo da Bahia. O sítio escolhido para as escavações foi a Praça Getúlio Vargas, local planejado para receber o Centro de Arqueologia Marítima da Universidade Federal da Bahia. A experiência deste curso de verão resultou no treinamento e na experiência de aprendizagem, através dos trabalhos de campo, laboratório e gabinete. Ao final, foram evidenciadas várias camadas de aterros com cultura material descartada nesta ilha. No centro desta praça, também foram encontradas estruturas de um restaurante do século XX.
Final field school report of Getulio Vargas Square, Fort of San Lourenco in the town of Itaparica – BA
Abstract
The aim of this report is to present the results of the field school which occurred in
the town of Itaparica, Reconcavo of Bahia. The excavations where conducted at Square
Getulio Vargas, the planned location to build the Center for Maritime Archaeology of the
Federal University of Bahia. This summer course resulted in training and learning, through
fieldwork, laboratory, and office experiences. At the end, evidence was found of numerous
landfill layers with material culture that was discarded on the island. In the center of this
square, structures of a twentieth century restaurant were also found.
