| Summary: | Penetrating anorectal and perineal injuries, though rare, present significant management challenges due to the complex anatomy and high risk of life-threatening complications, such as necrotizing pneumonia. This case report details a neglected anorectal trauma, which, after hematogenous spread of Staphylococcus aureus, led to severe sepsis and fatal necrotizing pneumonia. The infection, originating from the trauma site, spread through the bloodstream, resulting in widespread pulmonary tissue destruction. Early diagnosis, aggressive intervention, and a multidisciplinary approach are crucial for improving survival rates. Despite intensive care, preventing sepsis and multi-organ failure remains a formidable challenge in these cases. |
