Description
Summary:Extensor tendon rupture is an uncommon clinical scenario in degenerative osteoarthritis of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ). According to previous case reports, the pathomechanism was described to be a result of mechanical friction by the unstable ulnar head. There is still no established consensus on the treatment of degenerative DRUJ osteoarthritis in these cases. We reported two cases of extensor tendon rupture without a history of associated trauma, reactive or rheumatoid arthritis. The Sauvé-Kapandji (SK) procedure was performed along with the tendon management for these patients. The satisfactory results showed the SK procedure with tendon reconstruction may be a treatment option for a patient with DRUJ osteoarthritis and associated extensor tendon rupture.
