Description
Summary:The connection between Andalusia and Spanish chapbooks goes beyond the clear interest of the Spanish public of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in broadsides about bandits and gypsies, stories that perpetuated the topics of this region. An analysis of specialized production in this publishing genre demonstrates the leading role of Andalusia in the development of these publications. Indeed some of the printers and authors of most impact in those centuries were born in Cordoba, Cadiz or Seville. This study sketches the biographies and catalogues of these professionals of popular literature not only with the aim of offering relevant data on the publishing market in the south of Spain, but also to know the most popular titles in this product for mass consumption in Spain at that time.
