Description
Summary:Abstract The library is an mediator between various types of information sources and the library users. Its collections should be built according to rapid development of information sources and the changing needs of its users. Evaluation is one of the basic conditions for achieving quality in collection development. It is especially important for a hybrid library whose collections are in traditional form but it also offers access to electronic documents in a network. The current article suggests indicators for measuring the quality of collections in academic libraries as given by IFLA and the ISO-11620 standard for measurement in ali types of libraries. Furthermore, the Equinox project, which proposes indicators for measuring library performance in an electronic environment, is described.
