Summary: | The issuance of Law No. 24/2007 on Disaster Management was the starting point for the decentralization of disaster management. The implementation of decentralization can provide significant benefits in disaster management, such as being faster and more precise in handling disasters. This study aims to examine the extent of the implementation of decentralization of disaster management. The research method used is qualitative exploration. data were collected using observational studies, interviews, and documentation with purposive sampling. Meanwhile, the data processing technique uses qualitative analysis techniques. The findings in this study are that the role of LDMAs and local governments in the pre-disaster, emergency response and post-disaster phases is still not optimal. The causes are: (1) political will from local leaders related to disaster management is still weak; (2) local government budget allocation for disaster management is still low; (3) the low quality of human resources of LDMA apparatus. As a result, local governments are still dependent on the central government for disaster management. Thus, the implementation of decentralization of disaster management, which aims to increase citizens’ disaster awareness, keep people away from disaster risk, and make people able to live side by side with disasters, has not been maximally realized. |
