| Summary: | This grounded theory study investigated the difference that goal content makes in trust in one-to-one workplace coaching. It explored the experiences of Eleven participants (coaches=8, coachees=3), through Fourteen online semi-structured interviews. Three superordinate themes were identified: 1) “Different kinds of trust”, 2) “The strange triangle of trust”, and 3) “As I got to know them”. Novel findings suggest that the formation and function of trust may vary depending on goal content, including in relation to time and context. Implications include improving coach training and recruitment as well as coaching research through the inclusion of goal content data. |
