description Based on an ethnographic study of anti-MAP discourses, this article aims to contribute to the critical reflection on the concept of homophobia, in particular by examining its advantages and limitations for the analysis of discourses. If the concept of homophobia is by definition intended to point to, among other things, linguistic forms of rejection, to what extent is it possible to use it as a conceptual tool to analyse the linguistic and ideological construction of discourses in circulation? Does it appear to be the most relevant concept for shedding light on the dynamics of minorization in discourse? Finally, how can its use by discourse analysts contribute - alongside other disciplines - to our understanding of this concept and the complexity of the social phenomena it seeks to reveal? After presenting the concept of homophobia, the analyses focus on applying this theoretical framework to the ethnographic corpus and then questioning the dynamics underlying its effectiveness in this specific context. The analyses are linked to criticisms of the hegemony of the concept of homophobia and make it possible to discuss the value in this context of study of not diluting its meaning and of using other concepts that are analytically complementary.
