description The marine protected areas’ (MPAs) management is generally supposed to be based on the sharing of local and scientific knowledge. We will show how the encounter between territorial knowledge and expert knowledge, although at the origin of an MPA creation in Morocco, has not prevented mechanisms of ignorance of various kinds. This ignorance concerns the evolution of the resources uses and of the socio-technical innovation, and has hampered its management plan implementation. The first type of ignorance is organized, which means that it stems from a particular modality of the knowledge system that hinders a lasting encounter of different kinds of knowledge. The second type of ignorance is more the result of an intentional action that leads to the absence of circulation of a kind of knowledge.
