| description | The intraseasonal oscillation (ISO) of the oceanic surface partial pressure of carbon dioxide ( p CO _2 ) is one of the primary subsequent effects of the monsoon-driven upwelling along the southeast coast of Vietnam (SCV) in boreal summer. The intraseasonal variability of p CO _2 is confirmed by numerical simulations over 2011–2020 based on a high-resolution physical-biogeochemical model, which is manifested with upwelling feature in spatial pattern, and featured with a clear intraseasonal signal that peaks at 45-day. Sea surface temperature (SST) and Chlorophyll- a (Chl- a ) in the 20–90-day band have significant regulatory effects on the intraseasonal variation of p CO _2 , and the regulations are with certain delays for about 1–3 weeks. A distinct spatiotemporal correspondence is observed between the formation and relaxation of upwelling and the net ISO of p CO _2 . On average, the ISO of p CO _2 makes a major contribution of 61% of the boreal summer variability. The cumulative effect of oscillations changes the mean variation background, and affects the seasonal to interannual variability of p CO _2 . |
