| description | Abstract Reverse-salient permanent magnet synchronous motors have reverse-salient characteristics, and the direct-axis inductance is larger than the quadrature-axis inductance. Compared with the traditional positive-salient permanent magnet synchronous motor, the reverse-salient permanent magnet synchronous motor can make better use of the reluctance torque, broaden the constant power speed regulation range of the motor, effectively utilize the current of flux-increasing, and improve the operating point of the permanent magnets. In this study, a tangentially magnetized reverse-ramped permanent magnet synchronous motor (TM-RSPMSM) structure is presented. The segmented design of the permanent magnets improves the motor’s direct-axis inductance, and the rotor eccentricity and a magnetic barrier at the quadrature-axis reduces the quadrature-axis inductance. Analyzed by finite element method, the motor is characterized by strong overload capacity, wide range of constant power speed regulation and high efficiency at high speed operation. |
