Description
Summary:Since 1908, Bicocca area had been the main headquarters of the Italian multinational Pirelli. In this article I will be presenting fragments of some of the conversations had with trade union activists and militants of the Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro (CGIL) Italian Trade Union, who were working at Pirelli-Bicocca in ’68 and ’69. All these interviews are parts of my filed-work started in October 2008. Thus, in this article I will try, through critical analysis, to show how stories of trade unionists in their work and their involvement in trade union education reveal a continuous exchange between the public and private sphere, individual and collective dimension moreover, I will try to demonstrate how the trade union memory could be used to trace the biography of a place transformed by modernity.
