Summary:This paper develops the concepts of interaction-based approach and of real life tasks. On the basis of research results, published in recent years, we show the potential of this kind of tasks as a solution for various limitations that researchers have identified in a traditional language learning environment such as the fact that students often pay more attention to form than to communication and action.The theoretical part is illustrated by practical examples of real-life tasks using the potential of web 2.0 and allowing students to use the language within social interactions that go beyond the traditional classroom interactions.
