Description
Summary:To be putting forward the idea of « secular moral » as stated in the official report dating 22 April 2013, fits into both a continuity and break with the IIIrd Republic legacy. Continuity: To speak again of “secular moral” implies significantly its civic dimension and wishes to openly strengthen the authority of the academic institution, agreeing with the values intended to be considered as a priority at school (bill for the refounding/ reforming of school 8 July 2013). Break: The teaching of that subject matter is not so much that of instilling a non critical approval of values, as that of an interior emancipation. In the meantime, it takes into account a diversity of beliefs in a multicultural context. According to us, the issue is linking the construction of a moral judgment to the formation of a moral subject. Thus, really committing all the different members of the educational academic community. The so called “ Educations to…”, i.e PSHE (personal, social, health education), citizenship…, call in a true ethics of “care”, an interpersonal ethics of concern. This article, thus invites to a critical reading of that report, taking into consideration, bearing in mind the ideas developed in our thesis “Of Ethics at School”
