Description
Summary:This study analyzes entrepreneurship as an element for the social reintegration of prisoners in Colombia, specifically in the Aguachica Penitentiary, Cesar. It emphasizes the current situation in Colombian prisons, especially in Aguachica, Cesar, where there are approximately 200 inmates, who are overcrowded and idle. Therefore , a finite population sample of 101 inmates was used. However, according to the prison director, only eight inmates exclusively perform productive work or entrepreneurship within the penitentiary. Methodologically, this was a qualitative research approach, with an interpretive paradigm and ethnographic method. The results of this study confirmed that it is through productive work—in the form of entrepreneurship— that an effective and minimally traumatic social reintegration of prisoners into society is achieved . Therefore , it is concluded that it is essential to encourage prisoners to pursue entrepreneurial ventures, which will provide for themselves and their families during and after their return to society. Through formal education or training , these prisoners will be able to avoid reoffending.
