William Howlett
William Patrick Howlett (born 16 March 1946) is an Irishgeneral physician and neurologist whose work primarily focuses on the study and treatment of neurological diseases in Africa. He is known for his contributions to the early diagnosis of AIDS and to the understanding of konzo, a foodborne disease. In 2019, he received the Irish Presidential Distinguished Service Award, presented to Irish citizens abroad who have brought honor to their nation.
