and politician who served on the Central Committee of the
Romanian Communist Party
(PCR) and was first deputy secretary of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania
. One of the most feared and cunning members of the communist apparatus, she was married to

Gheorghe Pintilie
; the two exerted an immense influence on the PCR leader,
Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej
